Today was a beautiful day for snowshoeing with Weavers on a trail off the Old Snow Basin Road.
Tanner leading the way.
Chieko had a fun day.
Jackson in the lead. Annie had the easiest hike.
The most fun was off the trail, but that was also the hardest route.
Hiking through a little canyon. This trail connects to the Snow Basin road, but we didn't go that far.
I don't know what the temperature was, but it was certainly shirt-sleeve weather for snowshoers.
Some of us rested while the others hiked another quarter mile or so and back.
All in all this was a lot of fun.
Afterward we ate at Thyme and Seasons in Bountiful. The owner makes his own recipes in unusual mixtures. Today he had "lots of salmon in the building." Also prime rib and shrimp and barbecued spare ribs. Sara, Jared and I had the Thai basil Indian curry shrimp stir fry with a mixture of red jasmine rice, two kinds of sticky rice, black rice and brown rice. Chieko had salmon with chicken butternut squash over the same rice.
The owner told us he was swamped by all the customers after newspaper and TV spotlights on his restaurant (and market). Three o'clock on Saturday was a good time to come. Not so many customers. He also gave us some large slices of prime rib while we waited for our salads and New York cheesecake for desert. This is an unusual, great restaurant that we'll come back to. Oh, he also gave Chieko a large fresh salmon head for making soup.
Check out Thyme and Seasons in Bountiful after your snowshoeing adventure.
