Camping on South Weber River, Huntsville, UT

Friday and Saturday we camped on the South Fork of the Weber River above Pineview Reservoir with the Austins and Weavers. Sara went up early and grabbed a couple of nice, shaded camp spots. We arrived about 4 p.m. and started the camp by setting up our chairs in the shallow, cool river for a long visit.
The kids play in the water until they are pretty much water-logged.

The ninja boys. Jackson and Caleb.

The Tanner, Emi, Annie Magellans.

Back at camp we cook, can I say "hobo" dinners, or is the PC term "tinfoil" dinners?

Whatever, they are good. Except maybe one, which I neglected to turn with the others. Sorry, Brian.

Whittling a spear or dagger or knife.

S'mores come in all sizes and ingredients. I think this is just a big marshmallow. And so is the thing he's eating.

Saturday after a breakfast of thick bacon, blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, orange juice and milk, we hit the Pineview beach. The sun and sand are hot, but under the shaded awning and in the water is very pleasant.

The lifeguard.

The fish.

The run-down-the-beach-and-dive-inner.

Good thing we brought our own lifeguard to rescue the swimmer in distress.

Burying herself in the sand.

Swimming to the buoy and back.

What Caleb looks like underwater from about a foot.

Who doesn't love the water>

The race to the buoy and back is on.

Never mind. The race doesn't start until the competitors can get on and stay on their floaties. Takes about five side-splitting (for the audience) tries each. Brian gets on first and takes off with a good head start.

Coming and going. Sorry, Jared, but from my viewpoint it looks like Brian extended his head-start distance.

The winner puts on his shirt, grabs a cold drink and settles in a chair to gloat before his competitor arrives.

That ends the day.
